Since Adobe Photoshop Lightroom was launched in 2006 by Adobe as a beta-release, it has made huge waves amongst pros in the industry. Initially billed as a photo management software with strong RAW conversion utilities, the 3rd generation of Lightroom now features local adjustments like burn and dodge, spot removal, customizable webgalleries, image adjustment templates, and so much more.
At its heart Lightroom remains a great photo management tool, particularly once your archive spans multiple hard drives. Once you begin to use Lightroom, it soon becomes an invaluable and essential application that you may use even more frequently than Photoshop and Bridge.
Lightroom's strength is its intuitive and powerful interface, which allows you to adjust multiple images on the fly, rate them, sort them, and export them with ease and speed. But there's far more lurking under the pristine surface.
You'll learn how to organize and retouch photos, make collections, tag photos, understand and apply metadata, import and export in different file formats, in addition to development adjustments, such as exposure, white balance, tone curves, and lens corrections. Special attention will be given to local adjustments, with an emphasis on improving photographs and saving you time.
